Friends of the Diablo Canyon Lands
Conserving and securing public access to the
12,000-acre Diablo Canyon Lands
(Coastal San Luis Obispo County CA)
Our mission is to conserve the ecological, cultural (Chumash), and scenic resources of the Diablo Canyon Lands while providing for managed public access including a 20-mile California Coastal Trail addition. To learn more about our vision and group, see the "Conservation Framework for the Diablo Canyon Lands," below.
The opportunity to conserve the Diablo Canyon Lands is here. Why now? Because the lands will no longer be needed as buffer to the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant once it's closed by 2025 and decommissioned.

In 2000, over 75% of San Luis Obispo, CA County voters approved the Diablo REsources Advisory Measure (DREAM Initiative), which called on county leaders and PG&E to set aside the Diablo Canyon Lands for habitat preservation, agriculture, and public use upon closure of the Diablo Canyon Power Plant.
